Looking Ahead

Sunday football, what do you think? No doubt there will be plenty of discussion and we will talk it over with a pot and a parma after the game V Lalbert at Tyntynder Alan Garden Reserve. As for next week, round 6, there is a bit on at the club. First up, Smart FM will be out at Boga broadcasting the game against the Raiders live on 99.1, then after the game the social crew will be hosting a cocktail night at the club before those involved in the Deb head off to the Town Hall.

All the details of these are on the club website and while you are there, check out the player profiles. Tool of the week has made it’s first appearance, with Jordy Burke, Matt Fleming and Tommy O’Loughlin taking the first votes – log on to see why. Also, I see Quicky’s lookalikes listed as Gary Sweet, Chris Judd, Mick Martyn and Mr Sheen. Decide which one you think suits best and feel free to call him that all day (and night). Go Pies.

Round 4: Lake Boga Vs Tyntynder

Colts

Suffered their third defeat, but there were good signs in the first half and Mick and the boys will be out to get back on the winners list today. Ryan McAlister (Heil Builders), Jacob Fifita (Keighran’s Milk Bar), Brendon Mathiske (KFC), Kane Davies (Mallee Milk), Ricky McDiarmid (Wiseman’s Plumbing), Rhys Bull (Red Rooster), Andrew Patterson, Josh Cameron, Jake Haeusler and Toby O’Grady.

Reserves

Were right in the game at quarter time but Gaddo’s pleas went unheeded and the boys quickly lost touch. Positives were the gut busting running of Brett Davies (Federal Hotel), the impressive return of Ross Rohde,  and some keen colts like Jacob Fifita (Tripodi & Taverna) stepping up for a second game. Other awards went to Terry Dewhurst (Swan Hill Club), Adam Kelly (Club Award), Leigh O’Brien (Boga Pub) and Lachy Dunstone.

Seniors

Apart from a lapse in the third quarter, our seniors put in a solid effort against quality opposition. The boys will no doubt be looking forward to facing the Dogs again – hopefully without a dozen players missing next time! A positive to come out of our injuries is some youngsters gaining some senior experience and Josh Cameron again showed that he is ready for senior footy. Awards went to Swampy (Federal Hotel), Wes Harrison (Caltex), Willy Watson (Quo Vadis), Lachy Demorton (Swan Hill Club), Ricky Jochinke (Swan Hill Taxi) and Squigs (Boga Pub) and Clifford Ryan.

Netball

We ‘Welcomed’ the Doggies to the home of the Magpies to get a fairly harsh lesson in netball in nearly all grades! There were not too many highlights for the day, with only the C Graders shining a light. They had a comfortable and strong win over the Doggies in a real team effort. Well done girls.

13 and Under  -  Lake Boga 5 Tyntynder 47 – O’Grady Engineering Glass award: Renni Cameron, Red Rooster award: Tyler Slattery, Ladies Committee: Aliesha Taylor, Subway award: Samantha Taverna.

15 and Under  - Lake Boga 10 Tyntynder 58 – Harvey Norman Glass award: Emily Lambert, Top Knot Hair award: Reanne Brasser, Red Rooster award: Demi Nolan, Subway award: Dani Slattery.

17 and Under  - Lake Boga 20 Tyntynder 60 – Lateral Communications Glass award: Teagan Pentland, Top Knot Hair award: Nicola Pye, Red Rooster award: Chloe Reither, Video Ezy award: Erin Noorbergen.

C Grade - Lake Boga 32 Tyntynder 16 – WET Technologies Glass award: Tamika Lynas, WFI Mystery award: Kaly Moore, Top Knot Hair award: Karen Rovere. Meeka Lynas deserved every bit of the top award for not only impressive skills in the ring but for her pressure and strong defense down the court. She was well backed up by Kaly Moore and these girls couldn’t have done it without being well fed by the two N’s - Noons and Nikki. At the other end of the court, Dani Daly stepped up again to put the pressure on around the ring, and assisted the brilliant defense of Jenna Taverna and Karen Rovere.

B Grade – Lake Boga 48 Tyntynder 51 – Neville Pest Control Glass award: Bonnie Spry, Evoke Hair Studio award: Sheridan Harrop. A close game all they way. Unfortunately, the Doggies were able to hold on to their lead despite a determined Magpie outfit. Bonnie Spry and Loz Pumpa fought hard in defense, while Renne McCaig, Ange Marra and Loz O’Grady put pressure across the middle. Heidi Palmer and Shez Harrop combined well in the ring and tired to keep strong against tough opposition.

A Grade - Lake Boga 28 Tyntynder 71 – Fred and Gayle Glass award: Kirrily Schlitz, LBFNC Sports Bar award: Tennille Street. A grade was happy to welcome Kiz up from B Grade, but unfortunately they were ‘taught’ a netball lesson due to slow second and third quarters! It was definitely ‘on’ in the ring for Bridge Austerberry and Neilly Street who had to fight their way to get to the net. Sandra Ewart and Kiz Schlitz needed a couple of extra hands or something to try and stop the strong Doggie attackers. They tried all day but the Tyntynder girls were out to make a mends for last year’s grand final disappointment. Ouch!

Time to re-group today against Lalbert girls. Let’s hold our heads up high, grit our teeth and have a red hot go! Go Boga
