Round 9 vs Swan Hill

Netball

Just ask and they shall deliver! That’s what I asked last week, for our girls to show the Swans how we do it at Boga; ‘to play with determination and confidence and show great teamwork and support for each other’, and they did. Thank-you girls for proving that we are a club that won’t give up without a fight!

If you made it over to the netball courts on Saturday, you would have witnessed some awesome games of netball. The 13’s and the 15’s had their work cut out and gave it their best against tough opposition. The results from these games blew out unfortunately, but what was promising was that these girls kept their heads up and worked together as a team.

In the 17’s, B Grade and A Grade you could cut the tension with a knife. These games saw a loss of 2 (17’s), a draw (B’s) and a loss of 4 (A’s) under some of the most nerve biting conditions witnessed so far this year. Supporters were on the edge of their seats throughout these games and even though we didn’t come out with the full points, they did the club, their Coaches and themselves proud.

The 17’s were against some tall and skillful opposition, but they kept their heads and showed Coach Taylor that with her great support they can achieve anything.

The B Graders were unlucky, as they held the upper hand for most of the game. It was in the last few seconds that Swan Hill fought back and shot well to level the scores.

In the A Grade, our girls gave the confident Swans a real shock, may be even a reality check! There was something out there on the court on Saturday that I haven’t seen all year in the A Grade side. There was a team that was expecting a spanking by strong opposition, but our girls went out there with a bit of bite and a ferocious ‘give it all’ attitude. (I knew you could do it girls!)

Our only win for the day came from the C Grade juggernaut that managed to turn a two-goal deficit into a 10-goal win. Coach Taverna was blown away by the dedication and determination showed by her girls, not just on the court, but by the girls off the court too. The knocked off the undefeated ladder leaders in a physical and intense game. Keep an eye on these Magpie girls!

Do yourself a favour as today we take on the girls from Kerang who are fierce competition in all grades. Let’s go out there and do what we did last week, and play hard! Go Boga!
